SVG, PNG or WebP: which crest format to use
The right file depends on where the crest will appear. This guide compares the formats you will find on FootyCrests and when each one works best.
SVG: for editing and any size
SVG files are vectors. Use them for print, large screens, motion graphics and any work where you need to change colours or sizes. They are usually small and stay sharp at every size.
Some apps, such as many social media editors, do not accept SVG. In that case export a PNG at the size you need.
PNG: for transparent images
PNG keeps a transparent background, so the crest can sit on any colour or photo. It is the safest choice for presentations, documents and quick mock-ups.
A PNG has a fixed size. Use a file at least as large as the space it will fill.
WebP: for fast web pages
WebP gives smaller files than PNG at similar quality and supports transparency. FootyCrests uses WebP for its previews so pages load quickly. All current browsers support it.
Black, white and alternative versions
575 crests on FootyCrests include black or white versions. Single-colour versions work on busy photos, dark backgrounds, embroidery and engraving, where full colour would be lost.
